California
California is a default destination for me, seeing how I've lived here all my life and that one has to drive a couple hundred miles to escape it. But even this one state is like several countries' geographies rolled into one. Here are a few major destinations Kelli and I have traveled to within the amazingly diverse Golden State. More local stuff will be dealt with separately.

Hit & Miss Tour: Big Bear Mountain
To commemorate our seventh anniversary, Kelli and I hit the road to the Big Bear Mountain area in hopes to find some solace. Not much of that but it was nice to see the area for the first time since 1983. -
Hit & Miss Tour: Yucca Valley
After Big Bear Mountain, we headed down the hill to Yucca Valley, a desert just as much as Big Bear was an alpine forest. Our friend put us up and showed us some of the local color. -
Hit & Miss Tour: Palm Springs Tramway/Mt San Jacinto
The last part of our anniversary desert run took us on the tramway scaling a 6,000 foot rise out of the desert floor up to the alpine forest of Mt. San Jacinto state park. -
Salt Rock Tour: Borrego > Yucca Valley
Part one of our trip to Joshua Tree. This is the first day's meandering travels through our local mountains in the early morning, over to Salton Sea, and to our host's place in Yucca Valley. -
Salt Rock Tour: Joshua Tree > Palm Desert
Part two of our trip to Joshua Tree Park where the rock formations are just otherworldly and suggest images of heads, animals, buttocks and the like! Better than a Rorschach test! Surreal night shots. -
Salt & Light Tour
[Waiting on complete collection. Will be divided into smaller chunks.] Our November 2010 trip to Death Valley was a lesson in light and a vision in salt. See Map. -
Treehugger Tour
We took our honeymoon in the later part of November 2004. It was a driving tour of California’s coastal and northern areas. Associated blog entries from the tour are tagged as Treehugger Tour or Honeymoon.
